If your HVAC system is not performing properly
First, check that all thermostats are properly set to either “heat” or “cool” mode. Then, check that your HVAC filters are clean and replace them if dirty. You can locate the electrical panel and check the HVAC breaker to see if it is tripped. If it is, then switch it off and back on.
HVAC systems are designed to be able to cool a house by at least 20 degrees. If it is over 95 degrees outside, a properly working system may only be able to cool to 75 degrees.

If your electric water heater tank is not working
Locate the breaker entitled “water heater” in your electrical breaker panel and turn it off and on. After turning the breaker back on, wait 30 minutes and then check that the water is hot.
If your tankless water heater is not working
Take a photo of the error code on the screen and serial number on the side to send to plumber when you call
If there is a leak
Close the shut off valve(s) for that fixture. If there is no shut off valve for the fixture or it is a main line leak, shut off the water using the house water shut off.
If the water starts backing up in a first floor fixture
Turn the water off to your entire house and call your plumber. If it is a main line clog, using any plumbing in your house could cause a flood downstairs.
If your pipes freeze
Open cabinet doors under sinks. If you know where the freeze is, you may apply gentle heat to the pipe with a hair dryer by moving it back and forth over the frozen section. Do not use an open flame or a high temp device.
